The Environmental Center Garden Club focuses on various projects around the EC garden, including restoring native planting outside of the fenceline. The club meets Fridays at 11. There will be a holiday break, details to come. Email leader Mateo Dominguez-Keenan if you’d like more information.
Please join us for our next meeting on Friday, January 23, from 11:00-1:00. New projects are in the works, including a possible collaboration with the Indigenous Student Council on a campus garden. The January meeting with take place at the Environmental Center on campus. For more information, email Justice Thorner.
The next hike is scheduled for January 17th from 12:30pm - 3pm at the Lake Anza Loop Trail. The Loop trail is 0.7 miles, with apprx. 39ft of elevation gain on flat paved and dirt trails. This hike will be short in distance with frequent stops because the focus of the day will be looking for and identifying lichen! (So it will be more like a hike for ants...)
Bring your hand lenses and binoculars (for those who can't resist birding) and be prepared to talk about and observe all things symbiotic and ancient. All levels of knowledge are welcome!
